<p>It is a myth that &#8220;all diets work&#8221; and that the only difficulty is that people just can&#8217;t keep the weight off after they lose it. Some people, women especially have bodies that are very resistant to weight loss and they never seem to be able to lose a pound in the first place.</p>
<p>I have often tried various diets and many different methods to lose weight. I would rigorously follow the diet program and the scale would not move. Not a pound dropped off. Some women&#8217;s bodies are completely resistant to weight loss.</p>
<p>Biology has made it more challenging for women to lose weight. It is always easier for a man to lose weight because nature has programmed women to hold on to fat. That is because in the case of a famine, a woman not only has to be able to keep herself alive but she must also be able to keep any offspring alive. Biology has just made it more difficult for women. It&#8217;s a fact of life.</p>
<p>But in the past few years and throughout this struggle, I have learned quite a few things that can help women to lose weight. I will share my top five rules for weight loss here.</p>
<p>First rule is to Eat. That&#8217;s right; never starve yourself if you want to achieve lasting weight loss. Eating regularly will keep you from getting over hungry which in turn will keep you from eating everything you see later on. It also keeps your metabolism going and your body keeps on burning calories. If your body believes it is starving it will shut down your metabolism and save the fat so eat, at least 3 meals and as many as 6 small meals a day.</p>
<p>Second is to substitute quality for quantity. Empty calories that provide no decent nutritional value do nothing to fill you up and eating nutritionally empty food is a sure way to pack on the pounds. Cravings are often caused by a lack of vital nutrients so it is important to choose high quality, nutritionally dense foods. Steer clear of the &#8220;white stuff&#8217;, meaning white flour and white sugar.</p>
<p>Third, make sure that you add some protein with every meal. High protein diets work because protein digests more slowly than carbohydrates; especially simple carbohydrates and proteins will not cause a sugar spike in your bloodstream. When you add protein you are less hungry later on and you wind up consuming fewer calories.</p>
<p>The fourth rule is to pick your carbohydrates wisely. Simple carbohydrates like sweets, candy and really anything made out of white flour will just spike your blood sugar, make you hungry and add to your fat deposits. Choose complex carbohydrates like whole grains and vegetables. These will add fiber, which will also keep you fuller and will keep your digestive system functioning at its highest levels.</p>
<p>Fifth is to start an exercise program. Start moving. Take the stairs. Take a walk. Move more. You can begin slow and work your way up but exercise is crucial for long-term weight loss success.</p>
<p>This is a lifetime commitment. Few people with weight problems master it once and never have to think of it again. It is a commitment you make everyday. But if you adhere to these rules for most of the time you will be on your way to a lean body.</p>

<p>Ever wonder why sit-ups and crunches never seem to get you anywhere in regards to that six-pack you have always wanted? But to be blunt, core exercises are an incredible waste of time.</p>

Simply working these muscles with core training, though making your muscles a little stronger, will not get rid of this layer enough to be seen by the naked eye.</p>
<p>We are talking of course about targeted weight loss here, which is one of the biggest myths in the exercise industry. There is no such thing as targeted weight loss. There is no such thing as working out one specific area of the body and losing weight just from that area. The body doesn&#8217;t work like that. When you lose weight, you lose weight from everywhere.</p>
<p>Therefore, the best thing to do is a series of exercises that will help you burn calories and burn off the fat. Core training, as we said, is not an efficient use of your time because it doesn&#8217;t burn many calories and it won&#8217;t help you take off weight. Probably the best exercises that you can do are cardiovascular ones like swimming, running, bike riding, jumping rope, or simply walking, fast.</p>
<p>The truth about core training is that it can also damage the neck and spine if the exercises are not perfectly performed, and we all know when we start to get tired our form is the first thing to suffer. If you have preexisting back or neck problems, you should not attempt to do core work, it will often aggravate your condition.</p>
<p>So if the only kind of exercise you do is core training, stop! They will not help you flatten your stomach and they are a waste of time. You would be far better served taking a run around the block or riding on you bicycle than you are doing endless crunching in pursuit of an elusive dream.</p>

<p>Getting started with weight loss is not the easiest thing in the world. There are a number of challenges both psychologically and physically. One of the things that make it difficult is the numerous options available. It can be tough deciding where to start.</p>
<p>Sit down and decide exactly what it is you want to accomplish. This is the best place to start.</p>
<p>What do you really want to achieve? By focusing on this single thought you will avoid thinking about a thousand different things all at once.</p>
<p>Realistic goals cannot be set starting out if you only have a vague idea of what you want to achieve. For example, it isn&#8217;t enough to say &#8220;I want to lose weight&#8221;. You have to be more specific such as &#8220;I want to lose 30 pounds&#8221; or &#8220;I want to trim 2 inches from my waistline&#8221;.</p>
<p>In order to determine how effective the methods you use are and for an easy way to measure your progress, your goals need to include numbers.</p>
<p>Instead of thinking about achieving your ultimate one main goal, it is helpful to break it up into numerous sub goals with a set time period.</p>
<p>Suppose, for example, that your goal is to lose 30 pounds in six months. That could seem to be a long way off and there may be a tendency to procrastinate. Instead, break this down into a target of losing 5 pounds per month. This will give you something to work for each month.</p>
<p>When you do this, you are more likely to achieve that one final goal because you are less likely to procrastinate.</p>
<p>One of the more important things about goal setting is that they should be challenging but, at the same time, realistic. If your goals are not challenging, there is the tendency to put them off because you know you can achieve them with ease.</p>
<p>In order to not become discouraged, it is important to set goals that are realistic and not impossible for you to achieve.</p>
<p>In order to keep you motivated, your goals should strike a balance between challenging and realistic. With this balance, you will get a rewarding sense of achievement when you accomplish them.</p>
<p>In summary, by setting up goals as described above, you are more likely to win the weight loss battle!</p>

<p>Although not as famous as another ionic mineral, calcium, without it your bones and teeth will not remain healthy. Magnesium is also vital on the cellular level for a healthy brain and nervous system.</p>
<p>Magnesium has long been known for its ability to fight infection. In fact, a French doctor was able to cure patients with diphtheria using magnesium. He also used magnesium to treat bronchitis, asthma, emphysema, pneumonia, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, whooping cough, the common cold, measles, influenza mumps, rubella, abscesses, and the list goes on but Im sure you get the picture.</p>
<p>A more modern doctor, Dr. Vergini, not only confirmed all of the above he also updated the list with tetanus, chronic conjunctivitis, herpes zoster, optic neuritis and rheumatic disease. It can also ease the symptoms of CFS, cancer therapies, and fibromyalgia.</p>

<p>Additional magnesium is needed if you are on diuretics, antibiotics or certain other medications. Also, if you have Crohn&#8217;s disease or similar digestive problems it can block how much magnesium you can absorb. If you are an alcoholic, have poorly controlled diabetes, or have low blood potassium you will also need additional magnesium. This can be impossible to accomplish by diet alone.</p>

<p>There are so many diet plans and weight-loss fads in the market today that would &#8221; be dieters can choose from. The Nutrisystem diet is just one of them. The NutriSystem diet is actually foremost in providing its customers with optimum weight loss potential, not to mention ultimate convenience. This system is perfect for someone who does not want the hassle of thinking about planning, shopping for special foods while taking note of the calories each one has, cooking, and most especially portion sizes. </p>
<p>How does it work? The NutriSystem Program gives you a list of a variety of food available to choose from, suited for even the most discriminating palate. Once you have picked your choices, they deliver a month&#8217;s worth of the food in ready-to-cook pouches. You just pop them in the microwave and in a snap you are good to go. Each delicious meal is pre-portioned and the calories calculated according to the system that will enable you to lose the specific amount of weight you want. You get all this with no bother on your part.</p>
<p>So who is the genius that came up with this system? Well, a Horsham, Pennsylvania-based company called NutriSystem, Inc. is actually responsible. Founded in 1972, NutriSystem, Inc. started out by developing a liquid protein diet program. After a barrage of similar products hit the market, NutriSystem, Inc. decided to stop the program and develop something else. They did a lot of trial and error before they decided to open up a chain of weight loss centers wherein the customers would come in, be weighed in and then prescribed pre-packaged portion-controlled meals to bring home. </p>
<p>The company filed for bankruptcy in the early nineties. But come 1999, they reopened their doors, shifting their program to become an online meal delivery service. They hit pay dirt with this program, which they then developed in the NutriSystem Diet. They expanded the program further in the early 2000s and made it possible for customers to do their ordering over the phone instead of just online.</p>
<p>NutriSystem Inc.s next brainchild was to extend their key demographics to include male and older customers. This caused the program to boom, as it acquired more customers. In the year 2008, NutriSystem Inc. renamed the program to NutriSystem Advanced. They then created a partnership with the popular television-marketing program that airs its 90-minute infomercials, QVC. </p>
<p>In the same year, they also enlisted the services of Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino as the lead spokesperson, as well as famous personalities Marie Osmond and Tony Orlando. As of January 2009, singer Belinda Carlisle became primary spokesperson for NutriSystem products. All these celebrities have tried the weight loss programs and have given their testimonies on its effectiveness. So most of us eventually reach a point in our lives that we are too heavy and uncomfortable so we start looking for easy ways to lose weight to solve the problem.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s take a look at our diets and see what can be pared down or eliminated to cut the calorie intake down to a manageable amount, so we will begin to lose weight slowly and surely. One of the most effective easy ways to lose weight is to cut down or even better yet, cut out your intake of red meat. The American diet revolves around all kinds of ways of serving delectable cuts of steaks and hamburgers, or Mom&#8217;s old standbys of roasts and stews; but pound for pound these foodstuffs pack a wallop when it comes to calories and undesirable fats, and your overall diet is better off without them. Use fish or seafood and that omnipresent chicken to fill in the protein part of the diet, and forget the gravies and creamy buttery sauces&#8212;-sure, they taste great, but your waistline will suffer for it.</p>
<p>And up pops the ugly head of the specter of the fried food world: don&#8217;t even think about it. Leave the world of fried foods behind in your quest for the new and thinner you, and you will be much better off. Doing away with all forms of fried foods on a continuous basis is definitely one of the easy ways to lose weight because you are eliminating all that fat and trans fat interference that comes with every grease laden serving of fried chicken, fries, onion rings, fried fish&#8212;&#8211;you name it&#8212;&#8211;if you fry it, forget it. Our national diet is such and our dining out mentality has been brainwashed to the point that even if you ordered a boiled sock for dinner, you would get fries with it. Talk about killing yourself from the inside out, never mind not ever being able to lose weight effectively.</p>
<p>You&#8217;ve all heard the rhetoric about filling up your growling stomach with soup or salad first before you start ravaging a huge calorie laden meal, and the rhetoric is not without merit. When you sit down to enjoy a meal and you are starving, you tend to eat anything that makes your mouth water, and at this point, even the napkins look good. Well, don&#8217;t give in to the urges to chow down on heavy foodstuffs and instead start the meal with a cup of soup or a green salad. There are good reasons for doing this, and if you are looking for easy ways to lose weight, then this is the way to go because not only are you satisfying the need to eat, but you are putting into your system foods that are lower in calories and high in belly filling fiber that will tone down the need for a super sized gargantuan meal. Just remember to avoid the &#8220;cream of anything&#8221; soups, and go for a tomato based or broth based soup instead, and you will have a win win situation.</p>
<p>Okay, the meal is done and now you are craving something sweet to finish off the repast. Don&#8217;t reach for that cake or pie or &#8220;death by chocolate&#8221; monstrosity; have a piece of fruit. Yeah, we know, fruit is not your first choice, but it should be. It is naturally sweet, has lots of fiber, and is much lower in calories than those heavy duty sweets you are longing for. Keep in mind, your number one priority is losing weight, and this factor alone is one of the easy ways to lose weight, just substitute fruit for any other kind of dessert that is beckoning to your subconscious&#8212;-your waistline will thank you for it later.</p>
<p>And the drinks that accompany your meals, whether during, before, or after are also very important to your overall caloric intake because just regular sodas alone can pile on hundreds and hundreds of calories during the course of a day if you drink them without thinking, which a lot of people do. One of the easy ways to lose weight is to think water, or non caloric drinks&#8212;-but go easy on the diet sodas and drinks because studies have shown that the artificial sweeteners may stimulate your cravings for a sweet taste and you can affect your metabolism by ingesting too much of them. Water is still king, and if you must have flavorings, the flavored waters or mineral waters fill the bill and taste great. And don&#8217;t forget that old nemesis, alcohol. It does nothing but add empty calories to your intake total, and puts the kibosh on your weight loss efforts big time. If you must have a drink now and then, go easy: and remember to include the alcoholic calories in your daily tally.</p>
<p>There is no magic cure all when it comes to losing weight. It is difficult to do for the most part and usually takes a lengthy period of time before you see dramatic results, but for serious weight loss and keeping it off power, then you need to buckle down and put your mind to it. Remember that there are many easy ways to lose weight and for the most part, they all boil down to creating a new plan of eating, a changed outlook on the foodstuffs you eat, and sticking to your plan until you see results. There are no quick fixes in weight loss, but what you need to do is to lower your calorie intake, increase your calorie output, ditch foods that are unhealthy for you&#8212;&#8212;ie: unnatural sweets, fried foods, empty calories&#8212;&#8211;and create a new way of eating and living that will release that thinner you that is waiting inside.</p>

<p>The reasons behind the popularity of the portable infrared ray saunas are pretty obvious, and two fold. On the one hand you can bring them along with you no matter the destination due to their portability. On the other hand they have a huge bang for their buck. Studies show that a thirty minute session in a portable infrared ray sauna is roughly equivalent to a 2-3 mile run.</p>
<p>It only takes a few minutes in a portable sauna to experience pain relief in the joints and muscles. Infrared sauna often lead to a mild workout high of the sort that comes after long periods of physical exertion. This is a direct result of endorphins. According to scientists in the Czech Republic, the endorphins are released during infrared sauna use.</p>
<p>As a result of everyday living we accumulate toxins in our bodies. Experts are saying that we have over 400 new toxins today that didn&#8217;t even exist 45 years ago (Dr. Steve Nugent, 2003.)
